The grid needs power that never stops. What if the answer is 100 miles up?

​The clean energy transition has an unsolved problem: solar and wind are cheap, but the sun sets and the wind stops. The grid needs firm, always-on clean power — and we're running out of time to find it.

​Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP) harvests solar energy in orbit, where the sun shines constantly, and transmits it to Earth as clean, firm electricity.

​As part of SF Climate Week 2026, YPE Bay Area and Space Frontier Foundation are convening energy leaders, investors, and innovators for an honest conversation about whether SBSP can deliver — and what it would take to get there.
